From a six-acre stream park to a vibrant amphitheater and retail district, the Ballantyne campus is evolving as a destination while continuing to be an economic driver for the region.  Bus tour with some walking.  Note:  Lunch is provided by 505Design at CooperCary.

Participants will see and learn about the history of the district and the trail while visiting multiple examples of transit and trail-oriented development (TOD) to see how the neighborhood and development community have embraced this signature piece of infrastructure through placemaking and active trail edges.  Walking tour with some light rail.  Note: Lunch is not included.

Mobile Workshop: Moving from a Banking Center to a New Uptown

Date: Thursday, February 22, 2024
Time: 12:30-2:30pm
Location: Visitor Information Desk at MLK Blvd Entrance
Registration Fee: Members $85 & Non-Members $115

WALKING TOUR:  Charlotte is the second largest banking center in the United States. The two largest banks here (now Bank of America and Wells Fargo) have transformed the center city with their growth, but also in the cultural and entertainment-oriented places and projects they have supported. Most of the development has been a huge success, but there are a few bloopers in the mix and this tour will visit those places as well. In a walking tour from the Convention Center throughout the Central Business District, attendees will see places that would have never been built were it not for the leadership of the city’s financial institutions and critical public-private partnerships.  Note: Please enjoy lunch on your own before the tour.
